Product Roundup: Non-Rotating Telehandlers

SkyTrak 6034 and 6042

The SkyTrak 6034 and 6042 telehandlers are part of JLG Industries’ updated telehandler line, designed with features for material handling in residential, commercial and urban jobsites. The 6034 offers a 34-foot lift height and 23-foot forward reach, while the 6042 provides 42 feet of lift and 29 feet of reach. Both have a 6,000-pound lift capacity, three steering modes for maneuverability and compact dimensions with 95-inch width and 15-inch ground clearance. The 6034 has an operating weight of 14,500 pounds, and the 6042 weighs 19,100 pounds, allowing easier transport.

Each model uses a 74-hp, 2.9L Deutz diesel engine that eliminates the need for diesel exhaust fluid. A hydrostatic transmission supports precise control, while inching functionality lets operators run the boom at high speeds without shifting into neutral. Compatibility with JLG and SkyTrak attachments is supported through a common coupler, and auxiliary hydraulic connections are located on the side of the boom head for quicker attachment changes. A standard boom-mounted lifting lug and an integrated rear tow hitch provide additional versatility.

The cab is equipped with a larger LCD display, streamlined load charts and an advanced control system with features such as load stability indication and operator presence monitoring. Optional technology includes multi-view backup cameras, a reverse sensing system and a white noise backup alarm. Air conditioning is available for enclosed cabs.

Serviceability features include a 30% reduction in hydraulic hoses and connections, a top-mounted telescopic cylinder for easier access and a more durable rear panel design. Boom performance has also been updated with faster function speeds and a simplified cylinder layout, reducing maintenance needs over time.

Skyjack SJ1056 THSkyjack’s TH Series

Skyjack’s TH Series telehandlers are designed for the rental industry with an emphasis on durability and serviceability. The SJ1056 TH model has a maximum lift capacity of 10,000 pounds, a lift height of 56 feet, 3 inches and a forward reach of 42 feet, 2 inches. It is built to support material handling needs across different jobsites, including work at height, moving cargo in tight spaces and navigating rough terrain.

The cab includes ergonomic seating, weather protection and enclosed components such as windows, doors, wipers, heating and air conditioning. The FLEXCAB system allows conversion between open and enclosed cabs with basic tools, while the bolt-on/bolt-off window retention system with flat glass panels is designed for straightforward replacement and reduced downtime.

The SJ1056 TH is powered by a 74-hp engine with improved gearing and a high-efficiency hydraulics package. SMARTORQUE technology eliminates the need for diesel particulate filters, diesel exhaust fluid or other active exhaust aftertreatment. Additional performance features include a rear axle stabilization system and three steering modes that support maneuverability in various jobsite conditions.

For service, major access points are positioned for ease of maintenance, and the SKYCODED wiring system uses color and number coding to simplify troubleshooting. Machine performance can be monitored through the in-cab multifunction display, while the ELEVATE Live QR code system provides access to machine-specific service and support information using a smartphone.

Pettibone Extendo 1044XPettibone Extendo 1044X telehandler

The Pettibone Extendo 1044X telehandler is built for construction, masonry and rental applications, with a focus on handling heavy loads without the use of outriggers. It has a maximum lift capacity of 10,000 pounds and a lift height of 44 feet, 6 inches. Power comes from a 74-hp Deutz Tier 4 Final diesel engine that does not require diesel exhaust fluid. The engine is mounted on a side pod for easier service access and improved curbside visibility.

By eliminating outriggers, the 1044X offers quicker setup times and improved maneuverability while reducing the number of components that require maintenance. This design choice helps cut down on service needs while maintaining performance levels comparable to machines equipped with outriggers in the same class.

The machine uses a three-section boom made of formed plates, providing strength with less weight. Pettibone’s hydraulic system supports smooth, precise control while improving efficiency and cycle speeds. The 1044X also comes standard with X-Command telematics, which provides real-time access to machine data to assist equipment owners and service teams.

Xtreme Manufacturing XR50100-GXR50100-G telehandler

In 2023, Xtreme Manufacturing introduced the XR50100-G telehandler, developed in collaboration with longtime customer BZI. The construction firm had relied on Xtreme’s XR2450 model to support its MezzMaster systems, but as customers requested higher mezzanines in larger structures, BZI sought a machine with greater height and capacity. To avoid increasing crane use on jobsites, the company worked with Don Ahern and the Xtreme team to create a purpose-built solution.

Nicknamed “Trackzilla,” the XR50100-G is designed to lift 14,000 pounds at a 48-inch load center to a height of 100 feet. That requirement led to a maximum capacity of 38,000 pounds, later increased to 50,000 pounds with larger lift cylinders. The machine is capable of unloading full truckloads of steel in a single pick, cutting material handling time and improving efficiency on construction projects.

The design incorporates stability measures to accommodate the telehandler’s reach and capacity. Instead of outriggers, the machine uses an oversized track system to keep contact pressure below 110 pounds per square inch at maximum load. A hydraulically extending axle system provides a nearly 32-foot wheelbase, a 17-foot working width and the ability to retract to less than 12 feet for transport. With the carriage installed, the XR50100-G weighs 158,000 pounds but remains transportable without over-height permits.

Power comes from a 675-hp, 15-liter Cummins X15 engine that delivers hydraulic flows exceeding 300 gallons per minute for travel and lift operations. The telehandler reaches a top speed of 8 mph and includes an elevating cab with tilt for visibility and operator comfort when placing loads or working in congested areas. With its combination of capacity, reach and mobility, the XR50100-G is built to support modern steel erection and large-scale construction projects.
