Pettibone Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Extendo Telehandler

Pettibone/Traverse Lift is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Pettibone Model 88 Extendo, which the company claims is the first telescopic handler ever produced.

Developed in the late 1960s, the first Model 88 Extendo unit was completed and delivered in early 1970, as documented by the original bill of sale from March 24, 1970.

JLG Adds Sheet Material Telehandler Attachment

JLG Industries introduced a new sheet material handler to its line of telehandler attachments.

The coupler-mounted attachment can lift up to 3,000 lbs. with a 72-in. maximum fork spread, allowing for heavy and wide materials to be delivered at height.

“JLG continues to expand the versatility of its telehandlers with this new sheet material handler attachment,” said John Boehme, JLG senior product manager. “Operators can confidently lift and place a variety of materials, ensuring they are delivered conveniently and efficiently to the desired location.”

There’s still time for companies to enter their new products and services in the 2019 Leadership in Lifting Equipment and Aerial Platforms (LLEAP) Awards, presented by Lift and Access magazine.

The deadline for entries to the annual program that honors the latest innovations in lifting and access equipment has been extended to July 26.

This year’s awards will recognize products that have been introduced into the North American market between June 1, 2018, and May 31, 2019, and are currently available for purchase in North America.

United Rentals Names Former Riwal CEO to New Executive Role

United Rentals appointed Norty Turner to the newly created role of senior vice president of services and advanced solutions.

Turner, the former CEO of Riwal, will oversee four business units, including United Academy, customer equipment service, customer fleet solutions, and advanced solutions. His role will have a distinctive focus on building out service and solution platforms to better support customers.

JLG, Dana Partner on Electric Axle for Aerial Lifts

JLG Industries and Dana Incorporated announced their collaboration at the 2019 Bauma in Munich to develop an advanced Spicer Electrified e-Axle for the next generation of MEWPs as part of JLG's electrification initiative. 

The Spicer Electrified e-Axle features an optimized combination of electrified drive components packaged in a configuration that reduces power losses by up to 20% when compared with traditional diesel-powered drivetrains.

Merlo Launches P50.18 Panoramic Telehandler

Merlo P50.18 Panoramic Telehandler

Merlo introduced its new P50.18Plus high capacity telehandler, part of its Panoramic range.

It offers a lift height of 58’5”, a reach of 44 ft., and load capacity of 11,000 lbs., with the added benefit of independent, front axle mounted stabilizers. Boom side shift and frame leveling are standard and can be engaged with or without stabilizers in use.

JCB Introduces Subcompact Telehandler

JCB launched the 504-13 Loadall subcompact telescopic handler, developed in response to growing demand in North America for telehandlers in the under-6,000-lb. category.

With a 4,000-lb. lift capacity and maximum lift height of 13 ft. 3 in., the 504-13 is well-suited to maintenance applications, jobsite cleanup, and material handling within confined worksites. 

The 504-13 builds on the design and capability characteristics of the company’s earlier JCB 520-40 Loadall, with the addition of a new 39-hp Perkins Tier 4 Final-compliant diesel engine. Other features include:
