Manitou Partially Reopens European Production

Manitou Group has partially resumed activity at its production sites in France and Italy.

The limited reopening lets the company gradually restart its whole supply-and-production chain in the context of a health crisis that is still cause for concern.

In accordance with the regulations applicable to all the production sites, Manitou has implemented specific measures to protect the health of its onsite employees and service providers.

California Rental Association Exec Blackwell Passes

Dale Blackwell, California Rental Association executive director and owner of Aba Daba Rents, Sacramento, California, died April 15, 2020, from complications after a traumatic brain injury. He was 65.

Blackwell served on the CRA board of directors and as an officer for 17 years and had been executive director since 2006. He was also the chairman of CRA's insurance committee for 14 years.

In addition to serving the CRA, Blackwell had owned Aba Daba Rents since 2000.

Equipment from AGF Access Group Helps Build Montreal Light-Rail Project

AGF Access Group, Montreal, has been selected by NouvLR to supply equipment and services to assist with construction of the Edouard-Montpetit station, part of the new Réseau Express Métropolitan in Montreal.

The REM is a fully automated electric metro transit network, the largest mass transit project in Quebec in 50 years.

AGF Access Group’s, rental division, Jamco, provided a Hydro Mobile S Series transport platform for the initial phase of the project and will provide a temporary construction elevator for the second phase.

IPAF Welcomes New ISO Standard for MEWP Operator Controls

The International Powered Access Federation welcomes the introduction of a new international standard about operator controls for mobile elevating work platforms.

The new standard, ISO 21455:2020, was published earlier in April. It culminates a decade of work from IPAF, its members, and the U.K. Health and Safety Executive to standardize the actuation, displacement, location, and method of operation of MEWP control.

Deutz Puts New Power Center in West Palm Beach, Florida

Stephenson Equipment Names New JCB Product Manager

Stephenson Equipment, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, has named Luke Younk as its new JCP product manager.

Younk joins Stephenson after four years of experience with Kubota Tractor, where he was first a service representative and most recently a product manager for 120- to 160-hp tractors.

His career in the equipment business started about 10 years ago when worked with New Holland.

Younk’s experience with equipment started as he grew up on his family’s dairy farm in Northern Michigan and continued as he pursued a college degree in automotive and equipment technology.

Pettibone’s New 10,000-Lb. X-Series Telehandler Reaches Up 56’

The new Extendo 1056X telehandler from Pettibone can lift 10,000 lbs. or reach up 56’.

The new model joins Pettibone’s X-Series lineup of telehandlers. The new Extendo model builds on the Baraga, Michigan, manufacturer’s tradition of rugged design while also offering numerous performance improvements for contractors and rental users who work in masonry, construction, and other material handling applications.

The Extendo 1056X comes standard with a 74-hp Cummins QSF 3.8 Tier 4 Final diesel engine that features a DOC muffler and needs no diesel exhaust fluid (DEF).

Terex Utilities Helps Make Face Shields for Health Care Workers

Terex Utilities, Watertown, South Dakota, recently used its 3D printers to help make face shields for health care workers.

Terex Utilities did the work at the request of Lake Area Technical Institute, whose Electronic Systems Technology and Robotics departments are leading the effort.

Dan Brenden, director of engineering for Terex Utilities said that because it takes up to 13 hours to print four face shield bands, the college asked local businesses to help by printing parts. Two other companies and more than a dozen individuals are also helping with the project.
