All Election & Crane Provides Manufacturer Training on New Liebherr Fleet Additions | Construction News

Since May 2011, All Erection & Crane Rental Corp. Family of Companies has added 21 Liebherr all-terrains and truck cranes to its fleet, ranging from 50 to 900-ton capacities, and including the Liebherr LTM 1750-9.1 all terrain—one of two in the U.S.

When the LTM 1750-9.1 is delivered this November, the crane company will provide 80 hours of manufacturer training—40 hours for technicians and 40 hours for operators—to be held at the Cleveland yard. And for the other new equipment, there will be Liebherr training throughout 2013, including four levels of classes in Liebherr’s LICCON system, both Liccon I Data Bus and Liccon 2 Data Bus, Levels I and II. Liccon is the advanced computer system that controls the cranes’ electrical, steering, and other systems. There will also be a class in Active Rear-Axle Steering.

Service Manager, Rick Childers at the main All yard in Cleveland, Ohio, said: “This type of training is crucial because crane technology is always changing and becoming more complex. Our technicians and operators need to learn and apply the newest technological advancements before they ever work on the equipment.” Childers added, “This education ensures their competence with today’s machines.”

A total of 16 operators and mechanics from several of ALL’s 34 branches will be enrolled in the classes, with one or two at a time in each class.

Childers commented: “Gone are the days when guys could sit in classes and get a paper certificate at the end saying they took the training. Now, for example, with this Liebherr training, there are both classroom and hands-on sessions, and participants must complete the Level I class with a score of 75% or better in order to qualify for the Level II class. But once they’ve completed both levels, they become better technicians and operators and more valuable to our company.”

“The All Family of Companies’ mandate for ongoing employee education produces highly trained employees who perform above and beyond our customers’ expectations. They help reinforce ALL’s reputation as a crane rental leader,” said Michael Liptak, president of the All Erection & Crane Rental Corp. “We are pleased to offer our technicians these manufacturer training opportunities to help them enhance their skills and confidence. Those skills will ultimately provide our customers with the best service.”
