Avtron Crane Systems Supplies AC Drive Control Systems to Doosan

Avtron Crane Systems, Independence, Ohio, recently signed an agreement with Doosan Heavy Industries to provide AC drive control systems for two new ship-to-shore cranes being supplied to the U.S. Navy. Avtron was selected for its track record of successful experience with the US Navy and for its ability to provide domestic engineering and 24/7 support every day of the year.

Cranes used by the Navy are designed to last for many years and provide service under varying conditions. One of the Navy’s requirements is that the crane must be operational even if a major power component failure occurs. To satisfy this requirement, Avtron will be supplying several key redundant features on the crane control system.

Avtron’s scope of supply will include all power distribution equipment, common bus AC drives, programmable logic controller package, operator stations, operator’s chair and the crane diagnostic system. Avtron’s system will incorporate state of the art technology for AC control of a crane. The cranes will be delivered in late 2011 with completion in early 2012.
