Bigge Adds to Nationwide Fleet

Bigge Crane and Rigging, San Leandro, Calif., continued to add to its crane rental fleet this Spring. In the first four months of 2011, the company, which bare-rents cranes coast to coast out of locations in six U.S. states, added almost 20 cranes to its fleet nationwide.

Bigge has recently purchased another 660-ton Liebherr LR1600/2 crawler, a $4 million machine optimized for wind turbine erection. Bigge was among the first to operate the Liebherr crawler here in the U.S. Both cranes are currently on rent at a major wind farm project in the midwest.

The company has also recently purchased another 440-ton capacity Manitowoc 16000, its sixth of the crawler model.

On the all-terrain front, Bigge recently bulked up its fleet with four new 265-ton Liebherr LTM-1220/5.2, AT cranes. The new LTM-1220/5.2 incorporates upgrades and significant improvements over prior models.

Finally, the crane rental company has added 14 new large rough-terrain cranes, including four Grove model RT9130s. The RT9130 is among the largest capacity RTs, is rated to 120 tons, and at almost 200 feet has the longest reach in its class.

Bigge has also recently added 10 new 90-ton capacity Link-Belt RTC8090 Series II cranes. The new Link-Belts feature an innovative boom design, giving this crane the best chart in its class.
