Brother, Sister Buy Crane Attachment Manufacturer Heiden, Inc.

William Jacobson, owner of crane attachment manufacturer Heiden, Inc., Manitowoc, Wis., has reportedly sold the company to his children, Matthew and Karen Jacobson. He has owned the 49-year-old company since 1995.

Matthew Jacobson has worked for Heiden since 1998 and will have majority ownership and assume the role of president and chief financial officer. Karen Jacobson joined the company in 2006 and was previously a senior vice president at AIG in New York, N.Y. She will assume the role of vice president in charge of administration, human resources, and safety, eventually taking on sales and marketing responsibilities. According to M. Jacobson, the rest of the management team will remain the same.

M. Jacobson said Heiden's focus going forward will remain largely unchanged, with the exception of a new emphasis placed on employee training, education, and increased communications throughout the company. “We will continue to pursue and implement lean manufacturing initiatives and are moving toward ISO 9001 certification by year end,” he said.
