CCAA Meeting Covers Top Crane Topics

The Crane Certification Association of America (CCAA) recently held its 28th annual meeting in San Diego, Calif. The attendees represented more than 1,000 years of combined experience—led by Clarence Hottenstein, Atlantic Crane Inspection Services, Bensalem, Pa., with 59 years in the business. Approximately 60 people attended the meeting.

Presentations by a group of leading crane experts covered topics from overhead crane inspection techniques to wire rope inspection tips.

Other highlights included updates on several ANSI standards by Bransford Pickett, who is a litigation specialist, expert witness, and forensic consultant for Forensic Engineering and Applied Science Institute, Chula Vista, Calif. Pickett reported that there is an effort among the various B30 volumes to harmonize the language so that there is greater consistency between them.

The next CCAA meeting will be held Oct 14-16, 2012, at the Hyatt Regency Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas.
