Crane Boom Crashes onto New Thunder Bay Court House | Construction News

Thunder Bay, Ontario, May 2013—No one was hurt when a 90-ton crane tipped over onto the new court house under construction in Thunder Bay, but the project was shut down temporarily so the Ministry of Labour could investigate what caused the accident. The rubber-tired, telescopic boom crane had its outriggers set, and its upperworks was swing over the side toward the new building when the crane tipped up onto the outriggers nearest the construction site and the boom crashed onto the building, then buckled. Two witnesses across the street said the tip up happened slowly enough that construction workers could get out of the way.  – www.cbc.ca
