Drivecon Introduces LoadLock Snag-Load Prevention Feature

Drivecon, Gurnee, Ill., is pleased to introduce LoadLock, a free feature now available on all Drivecon closed-loop hoist inverters. The industry’s first snag-load prevention feature, the device proactively minimizes the effects of operator-induced shock loading. In any hoisting application the operator is tasked with slowly raising a load off the ground. Given the success of this task is dependent on the individual operator, and can frequently cause shock loading, the result is cumulative fatigue on the crane's mechanical and structural components. Once the LoadLock feature is activated, the inverter will constantly monitor for a rapid increase in torque (snag load). If the condition is sensed, the LoadLock will automatically decrease the hoist speed until the torque stabilizes and/or the load is off the ground.

Once stabilized, the speed will resume to the original rate requested by the operator. The end result is optimized cycle time and minimized impact to the crane's traditional wear items. This feature can be especially helpful with cranes used in delicate lifting applications and process duty environments.
