Houston Business Roundtable to Host Discussion of OSHA Cranes and Derricks Rule

The Houston Business Roundtable (HBR) Cranes & Rigging committee will host a panel of crane and rigging training providers and other experts on Oct. 14th, to answer questions and facilitate discussion on the potential impact that the new OSHA/DOL 29 CFR 1926 Cranes and Derricks construction rules will have on the industry.

The discussion will be held on from 7- 11 a.m. at the Marriott Houston South at Hobby airport, in Houston, Texas. Registration is due Oct. 11th.

Craig Epperson, president and CEO of Crane Inspection & Certification Bureau (CICB) will chair the panel. Speakers will be John Cole, CICB general manager; Jim Hedley, president and CEO of Crane Institute of America; Ted Blanton, president and CEO of North American Crane Bureau; and Jim Shelton, OSHA compliance assistance specialist.

The focus will be on OSHA 1926.1400 through 1926.1442, and the organizers are asking participants to read these rules carefully to maximize the learning experience and avoid duplication of efforts. They are also requesting that participants submit questions to the panel two weeks prior to the workshop so the panel can be prepared to provide accurate information.
