Konecranes Training Institute Provides Overhead Crane and Hoist Training

The newly renamed Konecranes Training Institute has been known by several names since its founding in 1962. The Konecranes Training Institute, formerly the P&H Institute, Morris Material Handling Institute, and originally the Harnischfeger Institute, is pleased to formally announce its new name. The institute has been dedicated to training clients to safely and efficiently operate, inspect, and maintain cranes and hoists. Annually, the Institute provides training to over 9,000 students and conducts over 900 classes in three ways. First, training is provided at its 5,000-square-foot facility with four classrooms. Second, regional seminars were offered in 40 cities in 2010. Third, on-site training for customers is provided throughout North America. Over the past few years, Konecranes has expanded the number of certified instructors to over 50, giving the opportunity to offer training assignments structured towards the specific needs of the customer.

"Our new name reflects our parent company, Konecranes, Inc., which we have been a part of since 2006. We have the same great courses, same great people, and a new name which reflects the global scope of the Konecranes organization. Our customers enjoy the ability to get world-class training from their local crane inspection and service provider," said Dale Smith, President, Konecranes, Berlin, Wis.

The collective experience and knowledge of the Konecranes global team has been used to develop extensive yet practical training courses to provide crane operators with the ability to safely and correctly operate overhead lifting equipment. The institute offers globally recognized crane and hoist training that exceeds the highest safety regulations and industry standards. Recently, the institute added training and testing for mobile cranes and overhead cranes to the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) standards.

"We now have regionally located certified operator trainers which allows us to provide added value and quick response to customers who need overhead crane operator training," says Jim Lang, general manager. The Konecranes Training Institute in Milwaukee provides state-of-the-art training to service personnel and crane operators. The training courses apply to all brands of cranes and hoists.

The quality of training provided is unsurpassed with over 98 percent of students surveyed in the past year concluding that Konecranes Training Institute courses met or exceeded their expectations. Customers continue to recognize the value they receive from investing in training for overhead cranes.
