Manitowoc Cuts 315 Jobs

Manitowoc last week cut a total of 315 jobs at its Shady Grove, Pa., facility. The number is more than double the 130 layoffs previously estimated to occur this month.

According to Dennis Rooney, vice president of human resources, no more layoffs are anticipated at this time, but the company “will continue to monitor the marketplace and customer demands while reacting accordingly.”

The Herald-Mail reported yesterday that the layoffs affected 305 production workers and 10 salaried employees. The article attributed the layoffs to a “strong softening” of the crane marketplace.
