Manitowoc Cranes, Shady Grove, Pa., has named Western Pacific Crane and Equipment the new exclusive distributor of Manitowoc, Grove, and National Crane in western North America and the South Pacific.
Western Pacific will represent the full line of Manitowoc Cranes, including Manitowoc’s lattice-boom cranes, Grove’s mobile telescopic cranes, and the National Crane’s boom truck lines.
The Potain tower crane line will continue to be marketed and sold by Coast Crane Co., Seattle, Wash., which recently became a wholly owned subsidiary of Essex Rental Corp., Buffalo Grove, Ill. Manitowoc’s new dealer had been previously announced with the name of Pacific Coast Cranes & Equipment. That name has since changed to avoid similarities and confusion with the name of the Essex subsidiary.
Western Pacific Crane and Equipment, a newly formed affiliate of the Lanco Group of Cos., will sell, rent, service, and provide product support on all Manitowoc crane products in the states of California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii, as well as western Canada, Guam, and the Marshall Islands.
Larry Weyers, executive vice president for Manitowoc in the Americas, said the new dealer was chosen after careful consideration, and will benefit Manitowoc’s customers. “Based on our in-depth research on these very important markets, we implemented a comprehensive and detailed review of several potential candidates to become our new distributor, which resulted in the selection of Western Pacific Crane and Equipment,” said Weyers.
He also noted that Walter Payton Power Equipment, another affiliate of the Lanco Group, has been Manitowoc’s distributor in the Midwest for the past seven years.
“During that time they have become one of the leading Manitowoc crane distributors and continuously exceed our expectations in market share growth with the Manitowoc and Grove product lines,” he said. “In addition, they have become a leading Crane Care Elite dealer. Their management continues to demonstrate their dedication and commitment to achieving our company’s long-term goals by providing superior sales, service, and after-sales support.”
Weyers said the philosophy and resulting success of the Lanco Group is based on a business model of providing exemplary sales and service support to all of their customers.
“We are confident that this emphasis on customer service and support will continue with the addition of Western Pacific Crane and Equipment, and we are very pleased to welcome them as our west-coast distributor,” he said.
