New Rotary Encoder is Built for Harsh Environments | Construction News

The Leine & Linde 900 rotary encoders series provides the absolute position measurements needed in equipment used in harsh environments such as the steel, oil and gas, transportation, and construction industries.

The latest addition to the product family is the Profinet interface, which has found broad application in the automation of heavy equipment.

The inductive scanning principle used in the Leine & Linde 900 series is known for enduring high temperatures, moisture, vibration, and shock without compromising resolution and accuracy.

The new Profinet interface expands on the existing EnDat, Profibus, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, and DRIVE-CLiQ interfaces to allow integration with a wide range of automation systems.

The 900 series supports a variety of mechanical interfaces as well, including tapered and keyed shafts, and a hollow shaft with keyway. Also, its bearings are twice the size of those on similar encoders.

The 900 series Profinet is also available with dual output for both absolute and incremental signals, supporting a wide range of control system interfaces.

Heidenhain Corp., Schaumburg, Ill., is the exclusive North American distributor for Leine & Linde encoders.
