Richard Howes Joins MCM as Associate Publisher, Editor

Maximum Capacity Media LLC (MCM), Fort Dodge, Iowa, has named Richard Howes as its associate publisher, a role which will incorporate the editorship of Industrial Lift and Hoist (ILH) and direct oversight of the Industrial Crane and Hoist Conference (ICHC).

Howes, who will join MCM on Sept. 20, has worked in various editorial positions for a U.K.-based crane magazine publisher for the past five years, most recently as group editor of international titles Cranes Today and Hoist and North American publication Overhead Crane & Hoist. He started his career in media almost 10 years ago.

Howes is well known and widely respected in the international and U.S. construction and industrial lifting industries. He brings a wealth of experience and market knowledge to MCM as the company looks to raise the profile of its existing products and explores new avenues of opportunity.

MCM president and publisher Guy Ramsey said: “We see a growing opportunity to expand our industrial lifting presence both domestically and internationally and Richard's addition strengthens our prospects. He is highly respected and brings a new dimension to our team.”

Current ILH editor Katie Parrish will work closely with Howes as a contributing editor. “Richard's addition to the team allows Katie to focus more attention on Lift and Access and Lifting 360," Ramsey said. "She has been responsible for building these products into North America's premier lifting publications. Parrish will work on expanding the recently launched Telecom and Utility Fleet supplement, digital products, conference, and show initiatives.”

“MCM is the outstanding U.S.-based cranes publisher, and taking this step up in the industry with them represents an excellent opportunity and exciting career development," Howes said. “I am particularly looking forward to taking the reins of ILH, combining the existing strength of the product with my perspective on the marketplace. As a member of the Material Handling Industry of America, I know ILH is well placed to develop and grow as the leading industrial lifting product the market has to offer, providing end users with a comprehensive material-handling overview."

“I look forward to working with the editorial and commercial staff at MCM as we expand existing products and bring new initiatives to fruition,” he added.

MCM publishes Crane Hot Line, Lift and Access, Industrial Lift and Hoist, Telecom and Utility Fleet, and Lifting 360, in addition to a growing portfolio of live events and other print and online products.
