SC&RA Offers Members Free Assembly/Disassembly Guides for Mobile and Tower Cranes | Construction News

The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) has developed two 9-page assembly/disassembly guides for cranes. These free guides—one for tower cranes and the other for mobile cranes—provide a comprehensive list of tasks to be completed. They also delineate specific responsibilities for the controlling entity, crane owner, crane user, assembly/disassembly director, site supervisor, lift director and crane operator.

“We are confident the forms presented in each guide can help our members protect personnel, equipment and property in the vicinity of the cranes,” said Beth O’Quinn, SC&RA vice president, crane & rigging. “The guides minimize the risk of an important task being overlooked because someone forgot to do it or presumed someone else completed it.”

At their convenience, SC&RA member companies may download PDF files of the guides from the “Members Only” section of the association’s website and print as many as they need. For example, SC&RA members may print a copy whenever a new employee joins the company.

Additionally, SC&RA developed carbonless copy versions of the two part forms found in Sample Page format in the assembly/disassembly guides. Both versions are available to SC&RA members in sets of 25 for $12:

  • Tower Cranes Pre-delivery Inspection Form – What Should Be Inspected before the Crane Is Shipped to the Site
  • Mobile Cranes Assembly/Disassembly Pre-Job Safety Meeting

The new safety products were all developed by the SC&RA Crane & Rigging Group Safety Education & Training Committee.
