Thern Adds Winch, Davit Crane to Product Lineup

Thern Inc., Winona, Minn., now offers the 4WP2T8 Atlas portable electric utility winches, which are made of lightweight cast aluminum. The Atlas winch can be moved between locations quickly and easily. It is ideally suited for operations that include lifting and pulling steel frames up to 2,000 pounds and elevating tools and equipment.

The Atlas winch combines significant lifting and pulling power with a compact frame. With a first layer specified load capacity of 2,000 pounds and a full drum capacity of 800 pounds, it is able to handle most small- to medium-sized loads. An internal mechanical brake provides positive load control during lifting operations. The continuous-duty motor provides fixed line speeds that do not vary with load weight. Line speeds are 8 fpm on the first drum layer, and 19 fpm at full drum. Direct drive units with higher line speeds are also available as standard. The Atlas has a full drum wire rope capacity of 280 feet.

Weighing about 100 pounds, the winch is portable and has handles built onto the drum frame to facilitate carrying. The unit's design allows for floor-, wall-, and ceiling-mount configuration. The Atlas comes standard with a 115-volt, single-phase motor and grounded plug, allowing it to run with on-site power sources. It is operated using a push-button pendant control. Adding to its versatility, the Atlas can be equipped with an emergency hand crank, facilitating manual operation when electricity fails or is not available. The Atlas is also available in a clutch model for horizontal pulling applications.

Additionally, Thern has started delivering the 3,000-pound capacity 5PT30 transportable davit crane. The largest crane in Thern's catalog, the 5PT30 has a 112-inch maximum horizontal boom reach and five telescoping boom positions • features that were previously unavailable to customers in a davit crane package.

The crane offers a full 360 mast rotation and options for either manual or electric winch operation. The 5PT30 fits material staging and workstation application in the manufacturing sector, and customers can choose to switch out the standard fixed boom configuration for the a ratchet-style jack. It also comes with the added benefit of offering load capacity without requiring permanent installation. Standard pedestal, socket, and wall mount bases are available.
