Zoomlion to Create North American Crane Division

In September 2009, Zoomlion purchased CIFA SpA, the world’s largest full-line manufacturer of concrete equipment. Although Zoomlion, a Chinese manufacturer of tower, crawler, and rough-terrain cranes, has had a presence in North America for more than three years, the CIFA acquisition positions the company to better serve the North American market.

In an interview in April with Matteo Rolla, president, and Bob Miller, North American sales manager, Crane Hot Line learned that Zoomlion is in the process of establishing U.S. headquarters in Yorkville, Wis., where CIFA USA already has a facility and a 30,000 sq. ft. warehouse available for Zoomlion to use for parts and service.

Zoomlion’s mobile crane and speciality vehicles division will initially focus on importing crawler cranes. A full interview with Rolla and Miller will appear in the July issue of Crane Hot Line.

In related news, Global Crane Sales, Houston, Texas, has agreed to distribute Zoomlion rough-terrain cranes worldwide. This marks the first time Zoomlion has offered its RT cranes for the western market. Four models are available: 40-ton RT35; 60-ton RT55; 80-ton RT75; and 110-ton RT100. Deliveries are scheduled to begin late this year.
