Hirschmann Strikes Agreement with Brazilian Crane Company

Chambersburg, Pa.-based Hirschmann Automation and Control, Inc. recently announced that Brazilian crane manufacturer Madal Palfinger will incorporate the Hirschmann (PAT) Mentor LMI on its 40-ton capacity BR 400 telescopic truck cranes. The first Mentor installed on a BR 400 telescopic crane was presented to the public last June at the M&T Expo in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Since then all BR 400s have been fitted with the Mentor as standard equipment.

According to Hirschmann, the mentor offers maximum crane operation at an ideal cost benefit ratio. The Hirschmann Mentor provides the crane operator a continuous display of the crane's actual and allowable load, boom length, boom angle, and load radius. The system includes an integrated bar graph which displays the cranes utilization. The combination of the central unit integrated into the console and the use of CANbus sensors provides for quick and easy installation.

Set-up and calibration of the Mentor is done via a console which incorporates a large backlit LCD display with automatic contrast adjustment. Maintenance free sensors from previous Hirschmann models are connected via CANbus and controlled by CANopen. The Mentor also provides the flexibility of optional Working Area Definition (WADS), event recorder, and the use of wireless sensors.
