Hirshmann Provides Sensors, Controls for Heavy Lift Crane

The Mobile Machine Controls division of Germany-based Hirschmann, has supplied its largest ever force transducer for use on three Mammoet lattice boom cranes. The Mammoet PTC 35 DS is a platform twin ring heavy lift crane rated at 1,600 metric tons.

The fSENS KMD 1350/0001 transducer provides a nominal load of 1,350 tons. In all, 13 load cells will measure traction and load forces. The force transducer weighs 780 kg and measures 2.14 meters. It also has two-fold redundant outles.

In addition, Hirschmann will also provide 50 controls from the SMCS (Scalable Mobile Control System) family and 65 compression force transducers fSENS DKA rated for 300 metric tons.
