Imperial Crane Complete Largest Lift to Date with Sany SCC3200 Crawler Crane

Imperial Crane Services, Bridgeview, Ill., used a Sany SCC3200 crawler crane in its largest single-crane lift to date on September 24. The 320-metric ton-rated Sany SCC3200 picked a 409,000-pound knockout drum at British Petroleum’s Whiting Refinery Modernization Project (WRMP) in Whiting, Ind.

“It’s not often you come across a pick of this magnitude,” said Robert Kaleta, a crane operator who has worked with Imperial for more than 23 years. “During the job, I felt very secure and confident with the solidness of the crane, and it handled the lift excellently.”

Imperial has worked daily on the WRMP since 2008, and earlier this year also placed a 300-metric ton-rated SANY SCC8300 crawler crane at a wind farm construction project in Tehachapi, Calif.
