Linden Comansa to Launch LC1600 Series

Shortly after introducing a new series of luffing cranes, Spanish crane manufacturer Linden Comansa keeps up its high pace of work with the launch of a new series of flat-top tower cranes. The LC1600 series, set for an October market entry, will comprise models 16 LC 185, 16 LC 220 and 16 LC 260, offered in different versions of maximum load. The LC1600 series has been designed with Linden Comansa’s fundamental premises of modularity and easiness of both assembly and transport in mind. With load capacities between 8 and 12 tons, the new series falls in line between the LC1100 (5 to 8 tons) and LC2100 (12 to 48 tons) families. Plus, the LC1600 family unites the advantages of both series, with which it shares numerous elements.

This new series marks the end of two models of the LC2100 series. Linden Comansa will stop production of the 21 LC 170 and 21 LC 210 cranes, which have very similar characteristics to the new models in jib length and load capacity. The company also attributes the production end to more competitive pricing of the new models.

Cranes in the LC1600 series share the jib sections and the counterweights with those of the LC1100. The more compact counter jib of the LC1600 is compatible with that of the LC1100 series, allowing for reduced counterjib radius in the 1600’s. In addition, the trolley and hoist mechanisms and the trolley-hook joint of the LC1100 series can be used in the cranes of the series LC1600 series, which offers a great advantage for clients who own models from both series.

The new family shares the 2-meter wide tower sections of the LC2100 series, as well as the climbing cage and the 4.5- and 6-meter wide cross bases. With a transition section, the cranes of the LC1600 family can be erected on 2.5-meter wide tower sections, to obtain freestanding heights superior to 100 meters.

One of the design advantages of the series is that the cranes don’t have an apex element. The first counter jib section is located on the gyratory component and, once mounted, the first jib section joins in one end with the rest of the counter jib at the other. This counter jib beginning, which also shelters the hoist mechanism, is more compact than the apex elements of both cranes that will not be produced anymore. Due to this design feature, transport speeds up and some steps in pre-erection unloading are avoided. This design, which saves costs in equipment and improves the set-up process, is based on the 21 LC 750, the first Linden Comansa model without an apex element.

The cranes’ double trolley system is similar to that successfully used in the LC1100 and LC2100 series, though it has been adapted to maximum loads of 12 tons. The trolley-hook joint, with pre-installed reevings, comes in a frame to make assembly, transport, and storage easier.

Series hoist mechanisms include the Effi-Plus System, which improves the speed of hoist and descent up to 70 percent. With this system, productivity during hoist operation is improved by up to 27 percent, without any increase in power or electricity consumption.

The jib sections are narrow, and the tower sections can be dismantled in panels, simplifying crane transport. In addition, LC1600 series components have lighter-weight designs; the heaviest component is 6 tons, which allows for a faster and safer assembly.

Cranes in the C1600 series are the first from Linden Comansa to include frequency control in their slewing movement. This system optimizes energy usage, and maintains maneuverability and sensations for the crane operator. In addition, the small engine size and lower engine temperatures, as well as the use of the same brake and weathervane as most of Linden Comansa’s cranes, minimize maintenance and parts replacement.

Optional are the Panoramic XL cab, bigger and with more comfort elements for the crane operator, and a Lebus drum for the 65 kW hoist mechanism, with capacity for more than 1,200 meters of wire.
