Palfinger Delivers First PK200002 L-SH Knuckleboom Crane in U.S. | Industry News

Palfinger has delivered its first PK 200002 L-SH knuckleboom crane purchased by a customer in the United States.

Palfinger introduced the new 88,000-lb.-capacity knuckleboom crane in Europe last year, but had not delivered one to a U.S. customer until now.

The first unit, purchased by Lifting Solutions NY, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was on display at the ConExpo trade show in Las Vegas earlier this month.

The new crane’s long-boom concept “answered the call for superior outreach,” according to Greg Sneek, Palfinger North America’s product manager for articulating cranes. The PK200002 L-SH has a boom that uses a new boom profile that makes the boom lighter, stronger, and stiffer.

The boom can be equipped with up to eight hydraulic extensions, and the jib can have up to seven extensions. Fully extended, the boom and jib can lift 2,000 lbs. at the 161-ft. maximum tip height, or reach out 147 ft.

The crane has a maximum moment of 1,090,030 lb.-ft. and a maximum lifting capacity of 88,200 lbs.  The maximum stabilizer spread is 34’1”. The swing system provides unlimited continuous swing. Power for all functions is provided by two hydraulic pumps driven by the truck’s engine, and all functions are operated by radio remote control.

The unit that was purchased by Lifting Solutions NY and displayed at ConExpo was mounted on a Western Star 4900 TS chassis with twin steering axles and a Detroit Diesel 530-hp engine.
