Brigade Electronics has launched the AI Human Form Recognition (HFR) Box, a retrofit adapter designed to convert existing vehicle camera systems into AI-enabled pedestrian detection systems.
The unit is installed between a vehicle’s camera and monitor. It uses software to analyze video footage and identify vulnerable road users, triggering visual and audible alerts when a person is detected. The system was developed for vehicles operating on construction job sites and is also intended for commercial transportation on public roads.
The plug-and-play device supports both CVBS and AHD signals and is compatible with a range of legacy and modern camera systems. Multiple camera inputs allow broader field coverage.
The company states that replacing entire AI camera systems across fleets can be cost-prohibitive. The AI HFR Box is intended to allow upgrades without replacing monitors, cameras or cables, reducing installation time and electronic waste.
Corey Heniser, CEO of Brigade Electronics Inc., said:
“The AI HFR Box represents a practical and forward-thinking approach to fleet safety. By converting existing camera systems into intelligent human form recognition solutions, we are making advanced AI technology more accessible, sustainable, and cost-effective for operators. It is a meaningful step forward in supporting safer roads and job sites across North America.”
The product is intended for use in construction, waste, municipal, road transportation and other commercial sectors.
