ALI Expands Ladder Safety Training Nationwide

The American Ladder Institute (ALI) has finished another impactful National Ladder Safety Month by launching a new initiative to promote year-round safety training.

Held every March, Ladder Safety Month is dedicated to reducing ladder-related injuries and fatalities at home and on the job. In 2025, ALI’s outreach included three safety webinars with 868 attendees and a national media tour led by ALI President Mike Van Bree. The campaign generated 16 million impressions through 14 interviews across local and national media outlets.

ALI also partnered with DIY influencer April Wilkerson to produce safety videos, expanding the campaign’s reach on social media platforms.

As part of its ongoing commitment to safety, ALI released an updated Ladder Safety Training video covering single, extension and telescoping ladders. This update reflects the growing use of telescoping ladders and adds to ALI’s suite of educational materials.

To further strengthen safety efforts, ALI introduced the Safety Ambassador Program, which encourages companies to certify that at least 80% of their ladder-using employees have passed ALI’s training. Participating companies receive access to a promotional toolkit to help share the message that “Every Step Matters.”

The required courses include:

  • Stepladder Safety
  • Single, Extension and Telescoping Ladder Safety
  • Articulated Ladder Safety
  • Mobile Ladder Stands Safety

More details about the program are available at americanladderinstitute.org.

This year’s campaign was supported by several sponsors. Middle Rung sponsors included the International Masonry Institute, the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, and Werner Co. First Rung sponsors were Riverdale Plating & Heat Treat, Dorsey & Whitney and Louisville Ladder.

Founded in 1947, the American Ladder Institute is a not-for-profit trade association dedicated to ladder safety training and standards. It also serves as the ANSI standards developer for ladder safety in North America.
