Combilift introduced two new long-load handling solutions at Ligna 2025 in Hannover, aimed at increasing efficiency, safety and sustainability in the timber and materials handling industries. The company debuted the Combi-FSE 8000 (pictured above), a heavy-duty electric sideloader, and the Combi Load Xtender, a pantograph-style loading system that enables full trailer or rail wagon access from one side.
The Combi-FSE 8000 expands Combilift’s four-wheel electric sideloader range, offering an 8.8-U.S.-ton lift capacity suitable for structural timber, engineered wood products and panel packs. Designed for confined indoor and outdoor environments, it features twin 18kW drive motors that deliver zero-emission performance without sacrificing torque or control.
Built with Combilift’s patented steering and traction system, the sideloader maintains reliable operation across uneven yard surfaces. A rear under-deck battery placement enhances balance and visibility, especially when reversing in tight racking aisles or sawmill loading zones. The battery design also supports quick changeovers, making it compatible with multi-shift operations.
The truck includes Combilift’s ergonomic full-visibility cab and is equipped with Combi-Connect, a cloud-based telematics platform that provides real-time diagnostics, performance data and predictive maintenance tools to reduce downtime.
Also showcased was the Combi Load Xtender, a pantograph-style load handler that allows full trailer or container loading from a single side. Engineered for space-constrained yards or sites with limited trailer access, the Xtender features an ultra-low mechanism height to function below standard trailer decks without interference.
Its open-frame design improves visibility and handling precision, while allowing operators to load against the far side of a trailer securely—minimizing the risk of product falls and limiting worker exposure to active traffic areas. Constructed for demanding environments, patent applications for the Xtender have been filed in Europe and the United States.
“These new solutions were developed in direct response to what we’re hearing from the timber sector,” said Martin McVicar, CEO of Combilift. “Customers need to move larger loads in tighter spaces with greater safety and lower emissions. The FSE 8000 and Combi Load Xtender do just that — and they’re backed by Combilift’s proven track record in long-load innovation.”
Both the Combi-FSE 8000 and the Combi Load Xtender are now available for order, with demonstrations taking place during the Ligna 2025 show.
