Crewtek Opens First Workforce Development Campus Location

Crewtek, an eight-week accelerator program designed to prepare students for entry level load handling positions, announces that it is now enrolling students in Washington State.

Classes for the crane & rigging trainee program begin November 6.

“Crewtek aims to prepare our students to enter the workforce with confidence and to match our employment partners with qualified and motivated individuals ready to begin a long and successful career in the skilled trades,” said James Grover, Crewtek executive director.

Employers are often restricted by their own staffing constraints to mentor new hires through basic skills development. Crewtek graduates start to work on day one with 12 Certifications and Qualifications and hands-on practice with working around heavy equipment.

“Our graduates will be prepared for entry-level employment in construction, machinery moving, manufacturing, heavy industry, and logistics,” Grover said.

However, Crewtek teaches more than just technical skills. The unique approach also supports development of character, communication, teamwork, and other life skills. Applicants are accepted only after an interview process to identify those with drive and motivation.

“Employers tell us over and over again that among the most important hiring criteria are a desire to learn and a willingness to work,” said Grover.

Crewtek will match students with prospective employers seeking to fill their labor pipeline. Industrial Training International, Barnhart Crane & Rigging, The ProLift Rigging Company, and other contractors, manufacturers, and crane rental companies are among Crewtek’s Career Partners.

Up to 12 students are assigned to each cohort, with new classes starting each month at the Woodland, Washington location.

“A campus in Houston, Texas is expected to open in early 2024, while plans for national expansion are in the works,” said Grover.

The Houston campus will be able to accommodate two simultaneous cohorts of 12 students each, with new classes starting each month. Future locations will be determined by labor demand and career partner interest.
