EUFMC 2023 to Feature a Women in Utility Fleet Event

A new signature event is being planned for the 2023 Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference (EUFMC). The first Women in Utility Fleet gathering will be held in response to attendee requests for a networking opportunity for women fleet professionals attending the conference.

“Women have been historically underrepresented in the utility fleet industry but that is changing,” said Julie Gomez, EUFMC director and T&D supervisor, Fleet Services at Tucson Electric Power. “The EUFMC Board of Directors is hosting this new event to increase engagement and provide a forum for discussing issues of common interest for the growing number of women utility fleet professionals who attend the conference. We look forward to welcoming them at the Women in Utility Fleet gathering, and to hear about their EUFMC experience.”

Scheduled for Tuesday, June 6, 2023 from 7 to 7:45 am, the Women in Utility Fleet breakfast will take place prior to the opening of the conference’s general session.

Following welcoming remarks by Gomez, attendees will be encouraged to provide feedback about EUFMC and suggestions on how to expand the program at future meetings.

Plans for the 70th anniversary EUFMC include:

• Driving Safety, Sustainability & Technical Expertise, the EUFMC educational program with a focus on finding solutions to fleet management challenges, featuring presentations by fleet executives, manufacturers and industry experts
• Roundtables where fleet representatives and suppliers exchange information and discuss mutual challenges, find solutions and develop best practices
• A drive-through utility equipment demonstration and an equipment show that is the site of more than 60 displays
• Special activities, including tours, golf outings, events for spouses, and more. (Fees for golf are covered for fleet professionals attending the conference.)

Fleet professionals from electric utilities, electrical contractors, utility co-ops, tree care operations, municipalities, and telecoms, as well as representatives from manufacturers and providers of vehicles, equipment, products and services for utility fleet operations, can register for the 2023 EUFMC here.
