Genie Expands Telescopic Handler Lineup With 2 New Models

Genie has expanded its telescopic handler lineup with the introduction of two models, the GTH-1244 and GTH-1044.

These high-capacity, shorter boom telehandlers are specifically designed for efficiency in pick-and-carry applications, making them ideal for rental companies looking to enhance their offerings while maximizing return on investment.

“These short-stick telehandlers are ideal for rental fleets, looking to diversify their product offering, or for specialty rental companies service customers in industrial maintenance, energy and steel erection," Amalija Kopac, senior global product manager said.

"This improves costs while delivering capacity and productivity to maximize ROI [return on investment].”

Genie’s latest telehandlers maintain the rugged reliability synonymous with its equipment, featuring a proven boom design known for durability during thousands of hours of real-world testing.

The GTH-1244 and GTH-1044 models incorporate a simplified design with one less boom section compared to competing models. This design change not only enhances the machines' performance but also helps reduce overall maintenance costs.

Key features contributing to lower maintenance expenses include:

  • A single master and lift cylinder for boom extension and retraction, eliminating the need for two cylinders commonly found in other models.
  • Carefully routed hydraulic hoses that are shielded from sharp edges and encased in protective wraps to prevent wear and tear.
  • A standard 74 horsepower engine that operates without diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), removing associated maintenance costs related to DEF filters or regeneration.
  • A redesigned gauge cluster with an IP67 seal and durable housing, providing protection against dust and moisture, which minimizes the likelihood of electronic failures and repair costs.
  • Durable, foam-filled Enduro A/T tires with an improved tread design, which significantly decrease the frequency of tire replacements.
  • An 80% commonality of parts across Genie’s telehandler portfolio, simplifying inventory management and reducing maintenance complexities.

The GTH-1244 and GTH-1044 are built for high efficiency and versatility, allowing operators to handle loads effectively without the need for stabilizers.

“These pick-and-carry machines have high capacities for quickly moving loads lower to the ground because the absence of stabilizers reduces cycle time,” said Kopac.

The telehandlers are equipped with features designed to maximize load-handling efficiency, including a powerful 74 horsepower engine that provides a high power-to-weight ratio for rapid drive speeds.

Each model comes standard with front and rear limited slip differentials, enhancing traction and improving performance on rough terrain. This drivetrain configuration also reduces wear on tires and axle shafts, contributing to a longer service life for the equipment.

Operators benefit from a 360-degree view of all four tires and a single multi-functional joystick, allowing for smoother operation with fewer hand movements. They can also make load adjustments at full height without needing to lock the rear axle.

A heavy-duty lifting shackle comes standard for lifting unpalletized materials, while various optional accessories — such as rotating and swing fork carriages, side shift and fork positioner carriages, and specialized attachments for truss and bucket operations — further enhance the GTH product line's capabilities.

As rental companies consider enhancing their fleets, the GTH-1244 and GTH-1044 models offer unique benefits in high-demand industries like energy, oil and gas and construction.

“If your customers are working in energy, oil and gas, industrial maintenance or certain construction applications like jobsite staging or clean up or steel erection, then these high-capacity short boom telehandlers can get you top rental rates and satisfy customer challenges,” said Kopac.
