Terramac Debuts RT15R With Higher Capacity and Operator Upgrades

Terramac has expanded its rotating crawler carrier lineup with the introduction of the RT15R, a new model designed to increase payload capacity while adding serviceability, safety and operator comfort improvements.

Replacing the RT14R, the RT15R increases carrying capacity to 30,000 pounds (15 tons), providing an additional 2,000 pounds of payload. The company said the increased capacity is intended to help contractors in utility, pipeline and general construction applications transport more material with fewer trips.

The RT15R also includes updates intended to reduce maintenance time and improve machine availability. Fuel, lubrication and daily service points have been reorganized to simplify routine maintenance, while quieter operation and updated engine management systems are designed to streamline day-to-day operation.

“Terramac is committed to listening to the needs of our dealers and end-users and the RT15R is a product of the feedback we’ve received,” said Matt Slater, Terramac president. “By increasing the payload, simplifying aftertreatment technology and improving operator comforts we are providing a machine that works harder and is easier to operate and manage.”

The new crawler carrier uses an EGR-free engine that meets emissions standards and is designed to simplify operation while reducing operating costs. Ground-level access to daily service points is intended to help crews complete inspections and maintenance more efficiently.

Inside the cab, Terramac redesigned the operator environment with a larger touchscreen control display, updated ergonomics and enhanced climate control. Visibility has also been improved through the use of a thicker windshield in place of the exterior crusher screen.

Additional safety features include extended access steps, expanded operator alerts and a fire extinguisher. The RT15R also retains the 360-degree rotating upper structure found on previous models, allowing materials to be unloaded at virtually any angle to improve productivity and maneuverability in confined workspaces.

Manufactured in St. Louis, the RT15R is available for worldwide shipment. Terramac said the machine is supported by its North American dealer network, providing customers with access to rental equipment, parts and aftermarket service.
