Product Roundup: Truck Mounted Aerials

Altec AH125B

With growing transmission structures and increased energy demand, customer needs in the insulated 125-foot aerial space are growing quickly. Altec’s AH125B is the next generation of Altec’s 125-foot insulated material handling aerials with improvements focused on reliability, safety and productivity. It provides a working height of 125 feet and side reach of 50.4 feet, with a 2,100-pound total boom capacity.

The AH125B includes a new CAN-based control system that allows for quick, precise and smooth operation. This control system features an updated main valve that allows for consistent operation in hot and cold weather, as well as upper controls with a highly resistive four-function controller providing limited secondary dielectric protection to the operator. The unit also offers simultaneous multi-functioning of all main boom functions and smooth ramping into and out of main boom functions. Overcenter and lower boom extended indicator lights allow operators to know when they reach machine limits.

Another key update is an improved platform power system for platform electronics. The new power system features charge indication, allowing operators to see the charge state before operating and know the unit is charging in stow. It also includes a rapid charge functionality that can charge the battery for a full day’s work in only 20 minutes in stow.

Serviceability upgrades make it easier to troubleshoot and maintain the unit. The simplified mechanical and hydraulic systems significantly reduce hoses, connection points, switches and grease points. The machine is compatible with Altec’s AXIS service tool, which allows mechanics to quickly troubleshoot using diagnostic trouble codes that include impact, possible cause and recommended action for faults.Elliott L65

Elliott L65

For contractors, public works and general maintenance teams, the Elliott L65 delivers the performance and adaptability to handle a wide range of tasks, quickly, safely and with fewer machines.

Built like a self-propelled manlift on a highway-ready chassis, the L65 eliminates the need for trailers or loading equipment, offering seamless mobility between jobsites. Unlike standard boom lifts, it boasts 5,900 pounds of main boom material handling capacity and 500 pounds at the platform, giving crews a true multi-function solution. The unit mounts on a non-CDL chassis, simplifying transport and staffing.

On the job, the L65 offers 65 feet of working height and 59 feet of horizontal reach with zero tailswing, enabling safe and efficient operation even in space-constrained environments. Auto setup and stow functions, along with Bluetooth diagnostics, help minimize operator effort and reduce downtime.

Beyond lifting, the L65’s platform can be outfitted with integrated tools for tasks like cutting, welding and washing. Smooth, proportional controls make it intuitive to operate, whether the crew is newer or highly experienced in aerial work. Built for durability and backed by Elliott’s warranty, the L65 is trusted by professionals in electrical contracting, municipal services, facility maintenance and transportation, teams that count on their equipment to adapt to the job, not the other way around.Ruthmann T-295A

Ruthmann T-295A

The Ruthmann Steiger T-295A stands among the tallest aerial platforms in North America, built to meet the extreme demands of industries like wind energy, utility work and high-rise maintenance. With a remarkable 295-foot working height and 137 feet of horizontal outreach, this truck-mounted lift delivers exceptional vertical and lateral access, plus 78 feet of below-grade reach for unique under-bridge or inspection applications.

Engineered for high performance and precise control, the T-295A is equipped with Ruthmann’s COCKPIT intelligent control system and a dynamic reach system for optimal boom placement. The multi-bevel boom design ensures smooth, stable movement at full extension, while platform rotation up to 440 degrees Fahrenheit enhances operator positioning. A 1,300-pound capacity platform offers ample room for tools and multiple users, and auto-leveling outriggers streamline setup on various jobsites.

Mounted on a Kenworth T800 chassis, the T-295A is built for highway travel and quick deployment. Its shared component design simplifies maintenance across Ruthmann’s product line, and optional wind rating selections up to 43 miles per hour give users the flexibility to keep working in changing conditions, all while meeting ANSI and CSA certification standards.Terex Optima HR55

Terex Optima HR55

Terex Utilities launched the next generation of a zero-emissions bucket truck for the electric utility industry earlier this year. Terex Utilities, a market leader in fleet electrification for the utility industry, has partnered with Mack Trucks, Inc. to deliver a bucket truck that boasts enhanced range and more payload than other electric chassis available today.

Terex installed its Optima HR55 aerial device powered by the HyPower WorkForce Power Take-Off by Viatec on the Mack MD7 electric chassis to deliver a zero-emissions utility truck that can drive farther and haul more cargo. Preliminary testing revealed the Terex all-electric bucket truck with the Mack MD7 electric chassis has up to 1.5 times enhanced range capabilities compared to other class 6/7 medium-duty electric chassis bucket trucks, with double the payload capacity on the rear axle.

The Terex aerial device, powered by the WorkForce power take-off, operates independently of the Mack MD7 electric chassis, which helps to ease range anxiety and allows utility crews to operate the boom and outriggers for a normal workday without taking away charge from the chassis.

“Our collaboration with Mack Trucks represents continued movement forward in zero-emission utility vehicles,” said Tyler Schwingler, Terex Utilities product marketing manager. “By combining our Optima HR55 aerial device with Mack’s MD7 chassis, we’re providing utility companies with a solution that doesn’t compromise on performance or capability while meeting their sustainability goals.”Manitex A62F

Manitex A62F

The Manitex A62F is a compact, non-CDL aerial lift solution built to handle demanding overhead tasks with ease. With a 62-foot working height and 38 feet of horizontal reach, it’s designed for flexibility on tight jobsites while supporting a platform capacity of 550 pounds, ideal for two operators and their tools. The unit mounts on a class 5 chassis and is compatible with popular truck brands like Ford, Dodge and Chevrolet.

A three-section telescopic boom provides smooth articulation, with all hydraulic hoses and extension cylinders housed inside the boom for added protection. Standard A-frame outriggers offer jobsite stability, and the aluminum basket, measuring 67 inches by 28 inches, comes equipped with hydraulic rotation and full control functionality from the platform. Safety features include an emergency lowering hand pump, interlock stabilizers, pressure and holding valves and a power take-off acoustic warning.

Operators can also customize the A62F with options like a 110-volt outlet with inverter, a 200-pound jiblet winch and multiple body configurations, including steel service or flatbed bodies. Whether used for utility work, facility maintenance or light construction, the A62F delivers dependable aerial performance in a versatile, road-ready package.Bronto S230XR
