JLG Industries Inc. kicked off its year-long 50th anniversary celebration on Jan. 9, 2019, marking a half-century since its founder spearheaded the access industry with the introduction of the world’s first boom lift, commonly referred to as JLG 1.

Applied Machinery Sales (AMS), the U.S. distributor for Merlo Telehandlers, will debut the Merlo Roto 50.35 S-Plus rotating telehandler with 115-ft. maximum lift at World of Concrete, set for Jan. 22-25, 2019, in Las Vegas.

The Roto50.35 S Plus features a newly engineered tilt cab with integrated controls, 96-ft. reach, maximum capacity of 10,900 lbs., 360° rotating turret, and a new, innovative safety system.

Haulotte Americas Appoints Western Sales Representative

Haulotte Americas, winner of a 2018 LLEAP Award for its HA61 LE PRO articulating boom lift, announced Bronson Anderson was named to the position of western regional sales representative to support Haulotte partners within the Western U.S. territory.

Carlos Hernandez, executive managing director of the Americas, said this marks an exciting addition for Haulotte as their customer partnerships in North America grow.

Manitex Names New Regional Manager for Articulating Cranes

Manitex is pleased to announce Bill Cox as the new regional business manager for Manitex articulating cranes in the South-Central region.

Cox was most recently employed in sales and rental of mobile cranes and crawler cranes at Terex Cranes and Tadano Mantis.  He has been an active board member of the Crane Rental Association of Canada and has regularly attended the major industry conferences.

Charles K. Patterson, president of Southeastern Equipment Co. Inc., retired after 46 years with the company.

Southeastern Equipment has been selling, servicing, and renting heavy machinery since 1957. The company has 18 locations throughout Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and Indiana. Manufacturers represented by Southeastern Equipment include: CASE Construction, Terex, Eager Beaver Trailers, Genie, Skytrak, JLG, and more.

GMG Expands to Australia

GMG, a 2018 LLEAP award winner with headquarters in the U.S., announced it is entering the Australian market to directly sell its full line of electric slab scissors, rough terrain scissors, and boom lifts.

GMG USA has established a fully owned subsidiary, GMG Platforms Australia Pty Limited, to offer sales, training, and product support. The company appointed Martin Eade as its sales manager there.

The 66th annual Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference will feature American hero Mark Kelly, a highly decorated astronaut and retired U.S. Navy captain, as its dinner speaker on Tuesday, June 4, 2019.

The conference will be held June 2-5, 2019, at the Williamsburg Lodge and Conference Center in Williamsburg, Virginia.

IPAF Partners with United Rentals to Offer MEWP Training

International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) has announced a ground-breaking agreement with member firm United Rentals Inc., owner of the largest powered access rental fleet in the world, to offer certified mobile elevated work platform (MEWP) operator training through its United Academy blended learning platform. 

Senior training managers from United Academy worked with IPAF to closely align the company’s training content with the globally recognized IPAF MEWP operator course.

Registration Opens for Safety 2019 Conference in New Orleans

The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) announced that registration is open for the Safety 2019 Professional Development Conference and Exposition, the nation’s largest conference for occupational safety and health professionals.

The conference expects to draw more than 5,000 attendees from 40 countries, and it is set for June 9-12 at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
