Crane Boom Rips Down Live Power Lines | Construction News

Calgary, Alberta, May 2013—Rail and electrical service were disrupted when a rough-terrain crane’s boom snagged live roadside power lines during a construction project. The crane was driving beneath the lines when its boom caught on them and tore them down. The power lines then fell onto the crane and nearby railroad tracks. The crane operator stayed in the machine’s cab until firefighters arrived and the lines were de-energized. He was not hurt. The incident is under investigation. – calgary.ctvnews.ca
