Commercial Group Lifting Products has completed its acquisition of F.D. Lake Co., expanding its operations into Grand Rapids and reinforcing its presence in Michigan’s lifting and rigging sector.
F.D. Lake, established in 1948, is a full-service rigging and lifting product fabricator with a longstanding reputation across Western and Northern Michigan. After being owned by the Carlsen family since 1971, the company will now operate under the Commercial Group umbrella. The F.D. Lake name will continue to represent the brand in the Grand Rapids market.
Mike Posey, who has led F.D. Lake as president for the past 35 years, will continue to oversee the Grand Rapids branch and will take on a role within Commercial Group’s broader management team.
“Both Commercial Group and F.D. Lake are well-established, family-owned businesses with strong reputations and cultures,” said Commercial Group President Gar Knight. “We are excited to welcome the F.D. Lake team into the Commercial Group family.”
The acquisition supports Commercial Group’s ongoing expansion. The company, founded in 1951, now operates facilities in Taylor and Grand Rapids, Michigan; Gary, Indiana; and Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio.
