This year at The Rental Show, JLG Industries launched a number of new and updated products, including the 5394RT high-capacity, rough-terrain scissor lift -- the biggest scissor in JLG’s product line. Offering a 53-ft. platform height and 1,500-lb. platform capacity, the machine is the tallest in the 94-in.-wide machine series but offers a few design enhancements from other models in the line as well.
On the 13-ft.-long steel platform, a standard 4-ft., 500-lb. capacity extension can now be deployed with a single handle at a variety of increments, enabling the operator to position the extended deck where it is needed. A dual-deck extension option is available.
When operating the unit, the scissor lift can be driven when elevated up to 30 ft. An oscillating axle is standard; a fixed axle is optional. Top travel speed is 4 mph, and gradeability is 40%. The outside turning radius is 19'5". Once in position, the standard auto-leveling outriggers help provide a stable work environment for the operator. Two generators are available - a welder generator and a general-duty unit. Foam-filled tires are standard equipment, with two sizes and non-marking options available.
Kubota engines power the 5394RT and can be spec'd as a 24.8-hp Kubota D1305 diesel engine or a 31-hp Kubota W6972 dual-fuel option.
JLG points out the serviceability of the machine as a highlight, with symmetrical cabinets on each side separated by ladders that allow platform entry on either side. The cabinets have recessed, ergonomic handles to keep out debris. The sloped cabinet top prevents water from pooling and debris from staying with the machine. The engine tray swings out 60 degrees for service, and on-board diagnostics are available on the platform or ground controls.
