Manitou is pleased to announce a new line of diesel and electric mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs) for North America. The new Manitou MEWP product line includes two electric models, the AETJ 49 and AETJ 43, and three diesel models, the ATJ 46, ATJ 46+ and MAN’GO 33. Select models will be shown for the first time this week at The ARA Rental Show in New Orleans.

“With our long proven success in the work platform market in Europe, where Manitou holds 20 percent market share, we are sure our MEWPs will prove to be a great addition to our North American product offering,” said Mark Hanson, regional vice president of Manitou Group and CEO of Manitou North America. “All five new models were engineered to comply with the proposed North American ANSI standards. Significant changes include modifications to the electrical system, a swing door on the basket and new Tier IV engines for the diesel models.”

The ATJ diesel-powered range was introduced in Europe in 1992, utilizing components from Manitou’s highly regarded telescopic handlers, such as axles with limited slip differential, four-wheel drive, four-wheel steering and heavy duty booms. Since then, Manitou has built a strong reputation for high-quality, innovative articulated lifts that deliver unparalleled performance, technology and safety.

New to all markets, not just North America, is the ATJ 46. This machine introduces new features that drastically reduce the total cost of ownership, including an automatic start and stop system and 24 hp Kubota engine that does not require any after treatment. Maintenance costs are minimized with easy access to main components and a self-diagnostic system. The Manitou ATJ 46 has a platform height of 45 feet 11 inches. It also boasts an impressive up-and-over reach of 27 feet 3 inches at a height of 24 feet 2 inches. The new ATJ 46 comes standard with four-wheel drive, rough-terrain tires, 14 inches of ground clearance and a 500-pound platform capacity.

The Manitou ATJ 46+ is ideal for any high-capacity job, with a large platform that can handle up to 900 pounds without restriction. The platform reaches up to 45 feet 6 inches and has a horizontal outreach of 28 feet 3 inches. Standard features include rough-terrain tires, 17 inches of ground clearance four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering.
For the rental market, Manitou developed the diesel-powered MAN’GO 33 that is compact, lightweight, easy to use and easy to maintain. Design elements of the machine are based on input from rental companies with a key focus on lowering the total cost of ownership. At just 5 feet 10 inches wide and 9,150 pounds, the MAN’GO 33 is the smallest and lightest machine of its category and therefore easier and less costly to transport. A unique articulation system with a single lift cylinder keeps the machine compact and allows for simple and fast operation. The platform holds 500 pounds and reaches heights up to 32 feet 6 inches.

For electric powered MEWPs, Manitou offers the AETJ 43 and AETJ 49. In the industrial market, where maximum up-and-over reach is critical, the AETJ 49 shines. The Manitou AETJ 49 is only 5 feet 9 inches wide but can still
