At Kubota Connect 2025, held Sept. 29 to 30 in Grapevine, Texas, Kubota Tractor Corporation unveiled its newest flagship compact utility tractor lineup, the Grand L70 Series. Designed through extensive customer and dealer collaboration, the Grand L70 represents the next evolution in Kubota’s compact tractor line, with enhanced technology, refined ergonomics and improved operational efficiency aimed squarely at professional users and contractors.
The new Grand L70 lineup includes four models ranging from 37 to 60 horsepower: the 3770 Deluxe, 4270 Deluxe, 3970 Premium and Grand L60 Premium, each engineered to balance power, usability and operator comfort. This generation replaces Kubota’s previous Grand L60 Series, simplifying the lineup into two trim levels, Deluxe and Premium, while eliminating the older GST transmission option in favor of the now-standard hydrostatic transmission. The change reflects operator preference for smoother, more intuitive control.
Customer-Driven Development
Kubota’s product team conducted a multi-year research effort to identify operator priorities before launching the L70 project. The goal wasn’t to fix performance issues, but to integrate modern technology and comfort features demanded by today’s buyers.
“We’re trying to get a 360-degree understanding of what the market is doing,” said Paul Manger, executive director of product marketing at Kubota. “Things change, the trends change, and we don’t want to get caught behind.”
That feedback is evident throughout the tractor, from the cab layout to the control response. The new series delivers a better operator experience while maintaining Kubota’s trademark durability. The design blends proven mechanical reliability with advanced digital controls, giving operators both functionality and usability.
Following the release, the Kubota team plans to continue the open communication with the customers, to see how well they hit the mark.
Manger continued, “When customers buy these machines, we’ll go visit them, some of them a year afterwards and we’ll say, how’s it been? We’ll ask them: how are you, do you like it, are you glad you bought it? We want to hear.”
Kubota ProCab
One of the most visible upgrades is the all-new four-post Kubota ProCab, standard on Premium models and available across the range. The redesigned cab eliminates traditional center pillars and expands the glass area by four square feet, improving visibility on all sides.
Bobby Cummings, product marketing director for compact utility tractors with Kubota, recalled, “When I joined the team and first saw the machines, the first thing I said was, ‘Wow, that’s a new cab.’ I recognized it immediately.”
Operators can benefit from clearer sightlines around the loader, further aided by optional front and rear cameras for precise work in tight spaces.
The ProCab also improves air recirculation by 36%, enhancing climate control and reducing dust intrusion, a valuable feature for contractors working in variable weather and terrain. For colder regions, a cold-weather package adds heated glass, a rear wiper, LED lighting and a 130-amp alternator for added electrical performance.
Inside, comfort and practicality take priority. A new seat lineup offers multiple air ride configurations, while added storage, including phone and cup holders and side pockets, keeps essentials nearby. The result is a cleaner, more functional workspace designed for long hours behind the wheel.
Cummings added, “We not only increased the square footage of glass, I think we made the interior a lot more comfortable as well.”
Technology and Control Integration
Kubota’s new K Command Display introduces color and connectivity to the compact tractor segment. The full-color LCD replaces the more analog-style, monochrome interface, integrating jog-dial navigation and soft-touch buttons for simple control. This allows for monitoring of key functions, adjusting transmission settings and accessing Bluetooth-enabled hands-free calling directly from the screen.

Premium models feature an ergonomic jog dial for quick adjustments, while maintenance logs and error codes can now be accessed directly through the display, simplifying diagnostics and service.
Kubota’s Intelligent Hydrostatic Transmission (iHST) offers multiple drive modes tuned for specific conditions: loader, road, snow and cutter. The iHST works with auto-throttle advance and stall guard systems to prevent engine bogging and adjust speed automatically for smooth, efficient operation.
A new multi-function joystick centralizes key commands, where operators can control cruise speed, loader functions and transmission settings simultaneously. Paired with Kubota’s auto-throttle linkage, it reduces manual workload and improves responsiveness between travel and loader work.
Matt Walker, senior product operations manager for Kubota’s compact and utility tractor line, noted the improvements the joystick brings to users. “Customers want to do more with this machine; they want to get involved with technology. So we’re making it as easy as we can to allow them to do that.”
Loader Performance and Implementation Compatibility
The Grand L70’s powertrain pairs with a redesigned suite of loaders and implements. Kubota’s new LA806 and LA1056 loaders replace earlier models, offering higher lift capacities and a tool-free quick-detach system for faster attachment changes. The LA1056 also introduces a mechanical self-leveling option for improved material handling.

A performance-matched backhoe (BH92A) and multiple loader options allow customization for construction, landscaping or property maintenance. To support contractors working extended hours, loader lighting kits enhance night visibility.
Kubota’s skid steer–style quick attach system makes switching implements fast and efficient, ensuring versatility for snow removal, grading, road maintenance or material transport.
Power, Efficiency and Dealer Readiness
The Grand L70 Series runs on Kubota’s diesel engines ranging from 37 to 60 horsepower, with PTO output between 28 and 53 horsepower. Premium models use turbocharged engines with Kubota’s Common-Rail System for consistent fuel delivery and lower emissions.
To boost efficiency, Kubota integrates its True Drive System (TDS), which lowers rated engine speed by about 1,000 RPM while maintaining 540 PTO speed. This reduces fuel use and noise, ideal for commercial and municipal operators logging long hours.
For the first time, Kubota will offer the Grand L70 factory-assembled, complete with loader kits, hydraulics and tire packages. The initiative aims to address technician shortages and dealer efficiency by cutting assembly time and delivering tractors ready for immediate use.
“A dealer doesn’t want their best tech assembling a tractor, which is a relatively simple thing to do, when he or she should be out there getting customers up and running who are having problems,” added Manger.
Offering a fully assembled tractor helps to lift the labor load off of dealers and free up their technicians.
The Flagship Future
Shipments of the Grand L70 series begin in February 2026, with dealer ordering already open. Product literature, QR code access to specs and digital training materials are already available to support rollout.
The Grand L70 reasserts Kubota’s position in the compact utility tractor market through a focus on operator experience, efficiency and intelligent control. The new lineup builds on more than a decade of refinement since the original Grand L60 launch in 2013, carrying forward mechanical reliability while adding modern digital systems and ergonomic upgrades.
“The way that you build quality and reliability is you continue to reiterate and improve as you go along,” noted Manger. “Many of the basic parts of the tractor are just further evolving. They’re very similar, but they’re a little bit tweaked here and there to make them a little bit better, a little bit more reliable.”
For Kubota, with the new Grand L70 series, customers, contractors and dealers can still expect the high-quality machines they have come to know, but enjoy the added benefits the new flagship series brings along with it, easing operator use, comfort and performance.
