EUFMC 2025 to Spotlight Fleet Safety, Electrification and Innovation

With fleet attendance growing by nearly 10% annually, EUFMC 2025 is on the agenda for a growing number of representatives from fleets that operate, manage and maintain utility equipment. In 2024, the industry’s premier educational and equipment event was attended by a record 175 fleet representatives from electric utilities, contractors, co-ops and municipal operations.

For the 72nd annual conference from June 1 - June 4, 2025, at the Williamsburg Lodge and Conference Center in Williamsburg, Virginia, EUFMC is will again offer fleet attendees a unique opportunity to connect with peers at companies across North America. Joining the fleet professionals will be representatives from leading manufacturers and suppliers that offer vehicles, equipment, products and services for utility fleet operations.

“Year after year, EUFMC attendees give high marks to the conference for its educational program, equipment events, networking opportunities and special activities,” said EUFMC President Greg Loew, Avista Utilities. “In 2025, along with the continued support of our sponsors, that tradition will continue.”

Education and Equipment Events

EUFMC 2025 will feature a new Equipment Show and Drive-Thru demonstration site with an enhanced exhibit layout. The Busch Gardens Scotland parking lot on Route 60 in Williamsburg also allows for the Equipment Show with more than 60 displays and the Drive-Thru to take place in one location. The move was necessary because Colonial Williamsburg continues to enhance its properties and the previous conference equipment events location became unavailable.

Keynote Address: What is the outlook for America’s energy infrastructure? Are we prepared for the increased demand for energy and for transitioning to a greener grid? Natalia Saldarriaga, vice president, Facilities and Field Services, Shared Services at Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. will lead off the conference educational program with a presentation on the utility’s transportation and building electrification initiatives.

At Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Saldarriaga leads the fleet’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure and fleet electrification implementation plan as the company transitions to an all-electrified fleet. She is also responsible for the company’s real estate strategy and operation and maintenance of over 40 facilities, and oversees all garages, Automotive Engineering, Fleet Administration and logistics and emergency support services for Con Edison Company of New York and Orange and Rockland Utilities Inc.

Safety and Leadership: Eric Kapitulik, founder of The Program, a provider of leadership development and team building services, will build on his focus during the 2024 EUFMC on addressing breakdowns in fleet safety processes and procedures. “World class cultures require the best people, achievable goals and standards and a strong commitment to driving safety improvements through accountability and effective approaches to leadership,” he said. “We look forward to bringing our flagship program, Creating and Sustaining a World-Class Culture, to EUFMC and to helping develop great leaders and teams who drive fleet safety improvements.”

Presentations by fleet executives, manufacturers and industry experts at the 2025 EUFMC General Session educational program — Driving Safety, Sustainability & Technical Expertise — will include:

• EV Charging Advancements: Southern California Edison (SCE) will share an overview of their fleet electrification efforts, what SCE is pursuing for fleet charging including a new dynamic charger business case, an EV business resiliency study plus details on real-life field deployments of mobile EV chargers to laydown yards.
• Quality Assurance Programs for Fleets: Industry leaders discuss how a successful closed loop Quality Assurance Program can not only improve your preventive maintenance program but substantially reduce your risk from catastrophic events.
• Senior Leadership Alignment: Fleet professionals share the importance of being aligned with senior leadership and their strategies for how to create and maintain those connections.
• Advanced Fuel Sourcing and Purchasing: Commonwealth Edison shares advanced fuel strategies including premium fuels, management of purchase points and fraud reduction.
• Safety Engaging Cultures: Hear fleet professionals discuss how leadership culture is driving safety improvements like building accountability and how data can drive changes.
• Procurement Strategies for EPA 2027: With ever-changing emissions requirements and advances in technology, equipment chassis procurement can be a moving target. This panel will explore how manufacturers are approaching these changes and the strategies some fleet managers are using to keep their fleets compliant and reliable.
• Artificial Intelligence in Fleet Management: Industry experts discuss how artificial intelligence can help fleet professionals succeed and what to expect from current technology.
• Rental Strategies in Difficult Financial Times: Why are companies opting for rentals or maintaining an in-house pool of vehicles and equipment? Are they facing capital restrictions that make renting more feasible than purchasing? This panel will discuss the topic from the perspectives of equipment rental vendors, a utility fleet and a contractor who rents equipment.
• Roundtables: An EUFMC signature event that brings together fleet representatives and suppliers to discuss mutual challenges and find solutions.
  

Strength, Courage and Triumph

Mallory Weggemann, a four-time Paralympian swimmer for Team USA and the holder of multiple American and World records will serve as the EUFMC 2025 dinner speaker. In her presentation — Grit, Resilience and Triumph Over Any Obstacle — Weggemann will share her personal journey following her paralysis at the age of 18, emphasizing themes of resilience, the power of a positive mindset and the importance of embracing one’s uniqueness.

Women in Utility Fleet

EUFMC will be hosting an expanded program for the conference’s third annual Women in Utility Fleet gathering. In 2025, the networking opportunity for women fleet professionals will also include women representatives from manufacturers and suppliers of services for utility fleets. The luncheon event will take place on Wednesday, June 4.

 “Feedback from the first two Women in Utility Fleet gatherings has been overwhelmingly positive,” said EUFMC Director Julie Gomez, Tucson Electric Power. “One of the suggestions we received was to include women representatives from suppliers who attend the conference as a way to expand our efforts to advance the role of women in the utility fleet industry.”

Special Activities

EUFMC 2025 will include the annual conference Golf Tournament, Colonial Williamsburg tours and a Sunrise Guided Run/Walk. For spouses, EUFMC hosts a reception, and will hold a golf clinic, a culinary demonstration, a Yoga class and a Spa and Service Break.
