Burwell Material Handling Launches with Focus on Smarter, Safer Solutions

Burwell Material Handling has officially launched under a new name, following its former identity as C & B Material Handling. The rebranding comes after the 2024 sale of its parent company’s agricultural equipment division and marks a strategic new phase for the family-owned business.

“For nearly four decades, the Burwell family’s business roots have been grounded in finding creative ways to solve customer challenges,” said Peter Burwell, CEO of Burwell Enterprises. “Putting our name on this company signals our commitment to long-term investment and continued innovation, while delivering smarter, safer solutions that allow businesses to operate more efficiently and grow with confidence.”

The company is positioning itself as a full-lifecycle material handling partner, offering integrated services across five key areas:

  • Equipment – End-to-end equipment solutions aligned with operational goals
  • Rental – Fast and reliable equipment access to maintain productivity
  • Parts & Service – Qualified, responsive technicians for ongoing equipment support
  • Connect & Protect – Technology solutions to manage mixed fleets and mitigate risk
  • Engineered Solutions – Custom systems tailored for scalable warehouse and facility operations

“As the pace of logistics accelerates, our customers need more than equipment — they need insight, integration, and a partner that helps them solve what’s in front of them while preparing them for what’s next,” said Kent Senf, president of Burwell Material Handling. “That’s the opportunity we’re stepping into: to lead the industry in helping operations run safer, smarter, and with more control across every link in the supply chain.”

Burwell Material Handling draws on nearly 80 years of experience in the industry and incorporates the legacy of several regional brands, including Big River Equipment, Louisiana Lift, Allift, Wise Forklift, Jefferds Corporation, and Homestead Material Handling. The company operates 18 branches across a wide territory, including states in the Midwest, South, and Mid-South regions.

Its portfolio includes a broad selection of equipment from brands such as Bobcat, Kion, Clark, Hyundai, Combilift, Taylor-Dunn, Genie and JLG.

Branch updates and new service offerings are expected to continue throughout the year.

“We’re just getting started,” Senf said. “We believe material handling is where safety, productivity and growth should all come together for our customers, and we’re building a company that’s ready to take them to the next level of success.”
